All in all a perfect day out

  Fun Day in Crete - This was a very fun tour. We first stopped at a bee farm, where the proprietor showed us how to make lip balm from bee's wax. We then... read more visited an olive oil factory and tasted three of their olive oils after a tour the production facility. The last stop was a small family owned wine production factory and distillery. There we tasted 3 wines and a shot of raki. Lunch was then provided before we were returned to our hotel. The tour lasted 6 hours, and we had a great time.

The vineyard and wine tasting was just perfect. It was so good to meet the man and his family who make the wine with such dedication. They were a delight to meet.
Finally lunch in a small village was a feast and was accompanied by more wine ! It was a lovely opportunity to get to meet our fellow travellers.

  Pleasant day - Aggeliki was a delightful guide/driver, and we very much enjoyed the first of the two wineries. The second winery was having an open house, so was quite crowded (big party atmosphere, blaring music) and no tour was possible. But it was interesting to taste the differences between wines made from the same grapes as those used at winery #1. The taverna lunch involved a lot of food and was tasty. All in all it was a great day, and nice to get out of Heraklion and see some of the countryside.

We learned a lot about all the processes involved in making soap, olive oil and wine. Last port of call was a village taverna for lunch, Tzatziki ,Greek salad , grilled meat and fries, followed by cake. With a glass of wine and a toast of Raki to finish. We would definitely recommend this tour.

The businesses we stopped at were all very eco-conscious so it was neat to learn about their processes and see how proud they were of their family businesses. The olive oil was delicious, the wine was fresh, and the food was tasty.
